KAAK

April 6, 2009

Gad’s mom, Claire Elbaz, was here recently and she, being moroccan, really makes the most delicious things all day long. These simple anis cookies are really easy to make, and go great with tea anytime….and i LOVE having a pro come in to cook in my kitchen.

img_4998this recipe seems a litle weird but trust me the end result is fabulous, and real old school moroccan! in a large bowl, mix, 2 eggs with 1cup vegetable oil, 1cup sugar.  add 1 cup hot water and 4 tbls baking powder. add 1 tsp anis seed and 1 tsp sesame seed.  Slowly add flour (approx 3.5/4cups) until the dough is firm.  Roll out long rods, cut indents down one side to make the cool shape, then pinch tips together to make a wreath shape.  Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

DAFFODILS

April 1, 2009

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils….
